Preferred suppliers. Quarter

Who did we use last time?

Every building runs on a handful of trades, and the list lives in the head of whoever has been on the committee longest. When they step down it goes with them, usually during the emergency.

Preferred suppliers in Quarter

What it does

The building's own list, not somebody's phone
Plumbers, electricians, lift servicers, gardeners, the broker. Numbers, emails and whatever the last committee learned, marked preferred where the building has settled on somebody. Owners can see the list, so the committee stops fielding the question.
And a way to find one when there is nobody to call
Ask for a trade and Quarter searches your own contacts and well-rated local businesses, and gives you both lists.
Reached without an account, like everyone else
A supplier is a contact with an email address. Quarter can write to them from the building's address with the job attached, and their reply comes back onto it.
What was asked, and when
The request went out from the building rather than somebody's phone, so the record survives the committee that made it.

How it works

  1. Suppliers are ordinary contacts: anybody on the list who is neither an owner nor a resident. Nothing separate to maintain.

  2. The search covers your contacts first and local businesses second, within a fixed radius, and says which is which.

What it doesn't do

Worth as much as knowing what it does, and otherwise found out at the worst moment.
