Change the operational rules: Control animals
This proposal asks owners to add a new rule to the body corporate's operational rules about keeping animals in units. The rule would allow an owner or occupier to keep an animal in their unit, but only on the condition that the animal doesn't cause a nuisance, doesn't unreasonably interfere with anyone else's use of their unit or the common property, and is kept under control whenever it's on common property. This is a change to how units and common property are used day to day, so it is decided by a simple majority vote (an ordinary resolution) at a general meeting — it does not need the higher threshold that applies to bigger structural or financial decisions. If it passes, the rule becomes part of the body corporate's operational rules and applies to everyone in the scheme.
Motion
That the body corporate operational rules be ADDED TO as follows: Keeping of animals An owner or occupier may keep an animal in a unit. The owner or occupier must ensure that the animal does not cause a nuisance or unreasonably interfere with the use or enjoyment of any other unit or of the common property, and must ensure it is under control on the common property.
