Install EV charging
This proposal asks the owners to approve putting a set number of electric vehicle charging points, and the electrical work behind them, on common property, paid for from one of the owners corporation's funds, with the owners corporation responsible for maintaining the affected areas afterwards. The number of chargers, the building, the estimated cost and the fund are still blank, and the committee needs to fill them in before this goes to a meeting. Changes to common property usually need a special resolution, which sets a high bar. Because EV chargers count as sustainability infrastructure, this can instead be put as a sustainability infrastructure resolution, which needs fewer votes to pass. Before voting, the owners corporation must consider the full cost, including running and maintenance costs, who will own, install and maintain the equipment, and which lots will be able to use it.
Motion
That the owners corporation, by sustainability infrastructure resolution, specifically authorises the installation of [NUMBER] electric vehicle charging points and the associated switchboard, cabling and load management equipment on the common property of 12 Carlingford Road, at an estimated cost of [COST] to be funded from the [FUND]; and that the ongoing maintenance of the common property affected be the responsibility of the owners corporation.
